Day 51 Pacific City to Hoquiam, Washington

Today we entered our 13th state and tomorrow we will enter our 15th national park. For those of you interested in other fun facts, we have traveled nearly 8,000 miles since we left on May 10.

The trip today continued along 101. Once again, the views were amazing and the 4 hour drive was really quite pleasant. There are quite a few small beach towns, some with small private lodges, and a couple with large time share complexes. It's interesting that folks in this region are attracted to the beach for the views, whereas folks in the southeast flock to the beach to play in the sand and water. Northwest Pacific water is quite cold and only the surfers enter the water (in full wetsuits). The views in the Northwest are truly incredible; the rocky landscape and mountainous region create lovely views.
